About Mt. Sequoyah Woods Trail
Mt. Sequoyah Woods is a quiet natural-surface trail system on Mt. Sequoyah, just east of downtown Fayetteville. It’s a shady, close-to-town spot for a short mountain bike ride or a hike in the woods.
Trail details
The park holds about 4.5 miles of multi-purpose, natural-surface trail winding through undisturbed Ozark forest. It’s occasionally rugged, with roots and rocky sections, but nothing extreme, so it suits riders who want a real dirt ride without a long drive. Because it’s shared with hikers, it’s more of a mellow woods loop than a purpose-built mountain bike flow trail.
The park / where it is
Mt. Sequoyah Woods is a City of Fayetteville nature preserve of roughly 97 acres on the slopes of Mt. Sequoyah, a short ride or drive east of downtown. There are two main access points: the Williams Drive and Skyline Drive corner on the northwest side, and the Paddock Road and Happy Hollow Road corner on the southeast side. Parking is available along Paddock Road, and there’s a pavilion and picnic area on site.

When you want more mileage or purpose-built trail, Kessler Mountain Regional Park and Centennial Park at Millsap Mountain are the bigger systems south of town, and Lake Fayetteville Park offers easy riding around the water to the north.
Know before you go
These are natural-surface, shared-use trails, so let them dry after rain and ride at a courteous pace around hikers and walkers. It’s a great quick ride when you don’t have time to drive across town. Leashed dogs are welcome, spring and fall are especially pleasant under the canopy, and it’s an easy add-on to an in-town ride since it’s so close to downtown.
