About Sager Creek Mountain Bike Trail

The Sager Creek Mountain Bike Trail in Siloam Springs is a welcoming, well-built singletrack system that runs along Sager Creek on the north side of the John Brown University campus. It was designed as a gateway trail – a great place for newer riders to learn and for everyone to enjoy an easy spin.

Trail details

The system totals about 5 miles. It breaks down into a 3.3-mile North Loop rated green (beginner), a 1.8-mile South Loop rated blue (intermediate), and a 0.8-mile connector that ties them together. There is also a separate 1.1-mile Strider trail built for young kids learning to ride. The trails are soft-surface singletrack, and the highlight for intermediate riders is the South Loop flow trail – a downhill-style line with multiple banks and fast jumps. It is approachable terrain overall, which makes it ideal for building fitness and confidence.

The park – where it is

Sager Creek was developed and is maintained by John Brown University, made possible with support from the Walton Family Foundation and Simmons Foods. The main entry to the trail is on W. Valley Drive near the JBU tennis courts on the north side of campus. Because it is on a university campus, there is parking nearby and it is easy to find. Walkers and runners often use the paved Dogwood Springs trail or the JBU cross country trail for non-technical access.

Connected & nearby trails

Sager Creek is one of two Siloam Springs systems, and it pairs well with nearby rides.

  • City Lake Park – the other Siloam Springs spot, with beginner-to-intermediate singletrack, a paved pump track, and a treetop boardwalk.
  • Lake Wedington – a scenic lake-side trail system between Siloam Springs and Fayetteville, a good next step east.
  • Centennial Park at Millsap Mountain – when you are ready for a bigger, world-class system, this Fayetteville park is a short drive away.

Know before you go

Ride spring through fall and stay off the dirt when it is wet – soft-surface trails rut easily. Since the trail is on the JBU campus and shared with walkers and runners, be courteous, control your speed near others, and yield when appropriate. It is a great family destination thanks to the beginner loops and the Strider trail. Bring your own water.
